How to Measure: BetterFit Shades

Please note BetterFit shades are mounted to the frame of the window glass itself (the window beading), and not to the sides of the window opening. These cannot be outside mounted. Please see video here for more details: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNi21uCrooQ

Inside Mount

  1. Before you begin, ensure there is a 6 mm clearance between the edge of the beading and any possible obstructions (such as handles or walls). Also check that the seals around your window do not protrude more than 6 mm. If the seals of your window are compressible, take a bead to bead measurement. If the seals are not compressible, take a seal to seal measurement.
  2. Measure the exact width to the nearest 1/8", at the top, middle and bottom of the seal to seal or bead to bead opening. Record the narrowest measurement as this will be your ordering width.
  3. Measure the exact height to the nearest 1/8", at the left, middle, and right of the seal to seal or bead to bead opening. Record the shortest measurement as this will be your ordering height.
  4. Next, measure the depth of the bead of the window to the nearest 1/8". You will choose this measurement as your bead depth measurement.

Do not make any deductions, as the manufacturer will make any necessary deductions to ensure the shade fits.
