Kitchen Window Treatments
Your kitchen is one of the hardest working rooms in the house, and the right kitchen window treatments can help make this room more efficient, more comfortable, and more beautiful. What are the right kitchen window treatments for your home? You have a few options:
- Curtains. Café or other thin curtains can look terrific in the kitchen, but keep in mind they can also be highly flammable. Avoid any curtains that come into contact with stovetops, toasters, or any other heating elements.
- Shades. Shades are great option for kitchens. They roll out of the way easily when you need to bring in sunlight, and they offer privacy when your family is having breakfast or dinner together.
- Blinds. Blinds are excellent window treatments for a kitchen because they can be made of materials that are heat resistant, moisture resistant, and sturdy. Depending on the material, they may also be less prone to fluttering in the breeze and posing a fire hazard, potentially making them a safer choice than curtains.
- Shutters. Shutters are another good option for kitchens, because they easily move out of the way. When closed, they can block out a lot of light.
Ultimately, the style and design of your kitchen will determine what window treatments you need. If your windows are hard-to-reach because they are over the kitchen sink, for example, you may opt for motorized shades or blinds. If you have larger windows, you may decide you like the look of curtains.
